As sirens keep featuring in several movies, a lot of people have been wondering and asking equally:

Are sirens real?

In Greek mythology, sirens are famously known for their voices and distinct physical appearance.

The direct and simple answer to the question, Are sirens real? lies on the fact that there is no scientific evidence that sirens are actually real.

Although scientific explanation may slightly differ from what other people observe about sirens.

Historically, sirens are quite associated with mythical creatures that sing beautifully in order to lure sailors.

The way siren is portrayed in the ancient days and the modern days has changed significantly. The ancient Greek sirens are not depicted as half woman, half fish creatures.

They were portrayed lucidly as creatures that have a woman head and the body of a bird. A clear picture shows that sirens are quite different from what the modern sirens are.

The Greek mythology specified siren as having their power through their voice. Now, the description of sirens is a woman with a massive fish tail.

The story of siren having a woman head and the body of a bird with wings emanates from the ancient Greece.

One of the outstanding features that showcases siren’s supernatural power is found in Homer Odyssey. It is stated that Odysseus, who traveled by sea where sirens live, order his sailors to firmly tie him to the ship mast, while for his sailors, he urged them to put wax in their ears.

Odysseus did this so as to prevent himself from doing the bidding of the sirens that sing while the sailors would not hear the song of the sirens.

Homer Odyssey story, as chiefly delineated mysterious powers of sirens. One thing peculiar about ancient cultures is how it is creatively used to explain bizarre situation or circumstances.

These situation or circumstances may range from dangerous human behavior, nature, and creepy things.

What sailors encountered as they traveled far from the land were strange and also beyond what they simply understood.

Some sea creatures which sailors encounters are manatees and dugongs. These sea creatures use the ocean as a territorial abode.

There are different tales about manatees and dugongs being associated with mermaid, but this does not factually prove that sirens are manatees or dugongs, as some cultures often disclose.

There is truly no evidence that manatees and dugongs have magical voices, or deceitfully attract sailors with intention of killing them.

They are just sea creatures and do not have any iota of association with sirens. For decades, scientists have studied and examined different sea creatures.

From their study, they have discovered several strange sea creatures, but have not been able to unveil the discovery of siren or even verify its existence. It is therefore on record that scientists have not:

1, verified siren DNA sample.

2. gotten any scientifically acceptable photograph of a moving or living siren.

3. gotten a biological specimen of a siren.

Scientists, however, may discover a lot of strange sea creatures, but this does not prove that they are entirely right.

Another thing which scientists hold on to as part of the evidence that sirens do not exist or are simply not real is the fact that despite how it has been repeatedly encountered of how sirens exist or they are real, no human has a photograph of siren.

The second reason which scientists use to measure the existence and realness of siren is that no human can breathe underwater because they have lungs, and lungs only take in oxygen from air.

Therefore, if sirens have the body of human and a fish tail, how can they possibly breathe or live underwater?

Third, third reason why scientists believe that sirens are not real is that no human being can use her voice to lure sailors to their death.

It is true that some connect with emotion, but the reality of a half-woman, half-fish using magical voice to attract sailors is not true, according to scientific research.

Because of the danger which mythology siren posed, the word siren has been used to purely mean a loud warning sound, which may need urgent attention or emergency.

The emergency siren has absolutely no connection with supernatural power, however. It is chiefly used due to the fact that mythical siren creatures made use of their voice to attract sailor that they killed.

Sirens have also features in different movies. These movies are fictional and purposely used for entertainment. Consequently, they are devoid of scientific evidence.

The major difference between siren and mermaid.

For mermaid: the mermaid are mythologically depicted or portrayed as having human-like body with a massive fish tail. They are beautiful with long hair.

For siren: the siren, on the other hand, are remarkably known for their enchanting voice, which they use to lure sailors.

In Greek mythology, sirens are described distinctly as having different physical features with mermaid.

In fact, siren, according to Greek ancient artwork, are creatures with the body of bird and human head, or upper body of a woman.

With the fast passing of mythological tales to the modern world, different myths and legends gradually mix together and a lot of people began to prefer the description of mermaid to siren.

Today, if many people are asked to describe siren, they would equally stress that sirens are fish tails.

The description of ancient Greek mythology did not showcase it in that way. Therefore, the major way.

Therefore, the major thing that distinguishes siren from mermaid are their voice and the physical appearance.

Why do people confuse siren with mermaid?

The ostensible reason why people confuse siren with mermaid stem from the fact that myth underwent change as it moved from one culture to another.

When filming a siren story, director and scriptwriter create a new version which showcase siren as having fish tail.

When drawing the image of siren, artists often picture them as having fish tail, and consequently making siren to be associated with mermaid.

All this and other corrupt the mythology of siren and mermaid.

So, are sirens real?

Scientific research shows that there is no existence of sirens. Scientists cannot and have not adequately proved that these mythical creatures, which features in all different cultures across the world, actually exist, or they are found to be real as movies show.

It is no doubt that sirens have deeply influenced literature, art, music, movies, and television.

In some places, the statue of siren is built in remembrance of siren found there. But however, there is no concrete and scientific evidence that sirens are real.

Are sirens real? Scientists may stress that sirens are not real, but the truth is that since sirens have supernatural power, they are therefore beyond scientific knowledge and understanding.

We have recently written an article about paranormal and how it is beyond scientific knowledge. Thus, if scientists argue that sirens are not real, it does not mean that they are entirely correct.

Instances where sirens exist or show up have been recounted several times by different people who witnessed its existence and emergence from the sea.

Sirens have real

Based on Greek mythology, sirens and mermaid are different. But in African traditional culture, sirens and mermaid are the same entity, used interchangeably.

Sirens are mostly considered as deities in African tradition. Consequently, there are special individuals who offer sacrifices to them.

In return, the sirens provide them fortune of riches and wealth. There have been countless cases where the priest would recite incantation and the siren would emerge from the depth of the sea and communicate with the priest.

If perhaps the siren are not pleased with the sacrifices, they will demand alternative.

Therefore, are siren real? The answer is yes. Sirens are seen as mythical creatures according to science, but these creatures actually possess supernatural power.

That is why scientists cannot discover them. They do not reveal themselves except when necessary.
